These guidelines describe how content on Hearthmallow is created, reviewed, and kept honest. We hold ourselves to them on every article we publish.
Written by real people
Every article on Hearthmallow is written by a human member of our team, Lauren Hayes or Katie Sullivan. We do not publish fully AI generated articles. We may use digital tools for research and editing support, but the ideas, opinions, testing, and final words are always ours.
Tested in real homes
We write about small apartment living because we live it. Decorating ideas, layouts, and product suggestions come from our own apartments and real experience. When we recommend something, it is because we have tried it, seen it work, or genuinely believe in it.
Honest about what didn’t work
Not every idea is a winner. When something fails in our own testing, we say so. We would rather tell you what to avoid than pretend everything works perfectly.
Affiliate transparency
Some links in our articles are affiliate links. We mark affiliate relationships clearly, and they never change what we recommend. If we wouldn’t suggest it to a friend, we won’t suggest it to you.
Original photography and images
We use our own photographs wherever possible. Where we use AI generated imagery for inspiration and illustration, we say so. We never present a stock or generated image as a photograph of a real reader home.
Corrections
We care about getting things right. If you spot an error in any article, please tell us through our contact page. We review corrections promptly and update articles when needed, noting significant corrections where appropriate.
Independence
Our opinions are our own. Brands do not pay for placement in our articles, and sponsored content, if we ever publish any, will always be clearly labeled as such.
Reader first
We write for renters and small space dwellers working with real budgets. If an idea requires a renovation, a landlord’s written permission, or a five figure budget, it doesn’t belong on Hearthmallow.
